About the Doctor

Dr. Scott Zimmerman is a podiatrist with extensive experience and background in foot and ankle care. He has been in private practice since 1983. Being raised in Michigan, he received his undergraduate degree from The University of Michigan. He then attended the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Zimmerman did his residency training at North Detroit General Hospital.

Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Department of Podiatry at the Oak Brook Medical and Surgical Centre. He is also director of the Surgical Residency Program at the Oak Brook Surgical Centre in conjunction with St. Joseph’s Hospital of Chicago and The North Chicago Veterans Administration Hospital in North Chicago. He is a Fellow of The American Professional Wound Care Association. Previously, he served as a site Externship Director and adjunct faculty member of the Wm. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

Dr. Zimmerman has lectured extensively to community groups at locations including Marion Joy Rehabilitation Center, Oak Brook Medical Center, York Township Senior Center, Meadowbrook Manor Rehabilitation Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital. Some of the topics include general foot health, diabetic foot care, post stoke foot care, and prevention of pressure sores.

During his career he has co-authored publications on multiple surgical topics, including bunion surgery and identification and treatment of post-operative complications. He has also been involved in research and publication of “Guideline for the Podiatric Office in Instrument Sterilization techniques; How to meet the OSHA and CDC; Requirements in the Office Setting.”
